The park was closed to bathing Wednesday, July 17, according to the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.

On Thursday, July 19 park officials said conditions have improved so that state standards for beach water quality are being met and current conditions at the beach are satisfactory for swimming.

The earlier prohibition was a precautionary step to assure the protection of the health and safety of the park's swimmers, park officials
