A severe round of storms knocked out power to thousands of Long Island residents on Thursday afternoon, July 21.

Just before 5 p.m., PSEG Long Island is reporting 9,568 without power on Long Island, with the majority of the outages -- a total of 6,240 -- in Nassau County.

Most of the 2,386 outages in Suffolk are in the western part of the county.
