Sean Mohan, age 49, of Central Islip, was sentenced to eight years in prison in Suffolk County Court on Monday, March 6. It followed his jury conviction on felony and misdemeanor drug charges in November 2022.

Mohan was arrested in August 2021 after Suffolk County Police found more than eight ounces of cocaine during a search of his home, according to prosecutors.

Police also recovered four digital scales, four cell phones, a drug ledger, and over $1,100 in drug proceeds.

On Nov. 3, 2022, following a two-week trial, a jury found Mohan guilty of the following charges:

  • Criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell - third degree (felony)
  • Criminally using drug paraphernalia - second degree (misdemeanor)

The jury’s verdict marked the second such conviction for Mohan, who was found guilty of attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance in Suffolk County in 2004.

“This previously convicted felon continued to endanger the community by once again selling dangerous drugs for profit,” Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney said in a statement.

“This trial conviction sentence should send a message that we will not tolerate persistent criminal activity. We will find you and hold you accountable.”

In addition to his prison time, Mohan must also complete two years of post-release supervision.
