A 60-year-old man was hit and killed by a vehicle while attempting to cross a roadway in Wantagh.
The incident took place around 11:57 p.m., Saturday, April 20, on Sunrise Highway in Wantagh, said Nassau County Police Det. Gary Ferucci.
According to detectives, while attempting to cross south to north on Sunrise Highway at the intersection with Wantagh Avenue, Hoilario Perez, of Bellmore, was struck by a 2014 Chevrolet, which was traveling westbound.
Perez suffered multiple trauma injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead by a staff physician, Ferucci said.
The driver of the vehicle, a 21-year-old male, remained at the scene. A brake test was administered which revealed the vehicle had adequate braking ability.
The investigation is ongoing.
