More than a thousand people on Long Island remain without power following the recent rash of whipping winds and rains that felled power lines and downed trees in the area.
As of late Friday morning, Oct. 18, PSEG Long Island utility crews were dealing with 551 outages, impacting 1,143 of its 1,161,924 customers.
In Nassau, 178 customers were still in the dark, while Suffolk was hit harder, with 964 customers still reporting outages. Complete restoration is expected by midnight on Friday night.
“Crews restored critical facilities and outages affecting the largest numbers of customers first. They will continue to focus on outages affecting handfuls of customers and individual residences,” PSEG noted. “PSEG Long Island has additional personnel, including tree and line crews, to repair damage and restore outages.”
