Angela Gibbs is the founder and lead artist at the studio with natural designs in tattoos, scar camouflage, and eyelash extensions.

The Freeport residents had a career in finance investment banking before changing careers in 2016 to pursue a lifelong passion for beauty and owning her own business.

"I help clients to enhance their natural beauty, celebrate milestones, like a special birthday, or overcome painful experiences so that they feel more confident and beautiful," Gibbs told Daily Voice.

Her specialties are eyelash extensions and basic and advanced permanent makeup techniques, like Microblading for the eyebrows.

Gibbs is specially trained in 3D Areola Repigmentation for breast reconstruction patients. It is the recreation of the nipple within the breast area to give the "illusion of protrusion" she explained.

Advanced tattoo techniques like scar camouflage help with minimizing residual scarring from surgery or injury.

These techniques allow Gibbs to be part in people making "transformations" in their lives, whether from a terrible illness like cancer or reaching a birthday or career milestone.

Gibbs said a "climax" in her career and the death of loved ones, including her Dad when she was still in college, and her maternal aunt from cancer in 2009,  led her to renew her future plans, and ultimately her decision to work in beauty and help others.

"Although I have lost many of my closest loved ones to cancer, I found my love for transforming others during this journey. For this reason, I am able to present my artistry using this platform, to create designs that transform my clients, increasing their confidence, and for some, providing them with closure to a challenging journey."

So in 2016, Gibbs who has a degree in business management returned to college. She completed a program in entrepreneurship.

"I was in the climax of my career in banking and took a step down in creating this business that I love."

She won first place with judges for her business plan at Hofstra, and even a cash prize of $2,500.

Though not enough to start a business, the prize added validation to her drive, Gibbs acknowledged.

She credits her grandmother Zella, a hairstylist, and mother Linette, a seamstress for instilling a sense of "business-mindedness and servitude" early on.

"I had two creative women who loved beauty and fashion. My grandmother had alopecia and wore a hair wrap. I was exposed at a young age to camouflaging imperfections."

Gibbs studied under "the best in the beauty industry" to become a New York State Licensed Cosmetologist & Esthetician and Certified Tattoo Artist in Nassau County & New York.

COSBEAU Ink aptly describes the work at her studio. COS stands for cosmetic, BEAU for beauty in French, and Ink for tattoos.

Services are offered after a consultation by appointments.
