Body Builder Turned Attorney Now Running Nassau County Bar Association

A former bodybuilder who is a trial lawyer at a Mineola law firm is the new Nassau County Bar Association president.

Richard D. Collins, a founding partner of the Collins Gann McCloskey & Barry PLLC is the NCBA's 117th president.

He was appointed as president at the Installation of NCBA and Nassau Academy of Law Offices and Director June 4 at a ceremony in Mineola, says the bar's announcement.

Collins has been an NCBA member for 25 years and served on a variety of committees.

He was elected and director and chair of the Long Range Planning Committee and the Publications Committee.

In 2001, Collins received the NCBA’s President’s Award for revamping the Nassau Lawyer throughout his term as Editor-In-Chief. 

He previously was president of the Criminal Courts Bar Association of Nassau County and of the former Assistant District Attorneys of Nassau County.

Collins has focused his career on building a national practice that caters to clients in the bodybuilding, fitness, health and dietary supplement communities.

He was a competitive bodybuilder when he was younger and currently serves clients in the bodybuilding, fitness, health and dietary supplement communities.

He is the official legal advisor to the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness and as general counsel to the International Society of Sports Nutrition.
