$13.9M Bridge Replacement, Roundabout Project Starts In Westchester
In an effort to improve traffic flow and increase safety on a busy Westchester roadway, crews have undertaken a multi-million dollar project on Route 100C. New York State Department of Transportation officials announced on Monday the kickoff a $13.9 million project to remove and replace the bridge carrying Route 100C over Route 9A. An unsafe lane change on the Hutchinson River Parkway in Westchester led to the seizure of a dozen pounds of marijuana from a driver in Harrison. Randolph, Mass. resident Tan Van Nguyen, 55, was driving northbound on the Hutchinson River Parkway near North Street in Harrison on Wednesday, Aug. 15, when he was suddenly veered from the left lane into the right lane, forcing a second motorist to slam on the brakes to avoid crashing. The proposal to build a multi-billion dollar tunnel under the Long Island Sound, connecting Long Island and Westchester, has been scrapped, New York State Department of Transportation officials announced on Thursday. A 29-year-old man is heading to prison for a quarter of a century after pleading guilty to killing his mother. Westchester County District Attorney announced on Wednesday that Andre Coverdale, 29, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to a felony charge of first-degree manslaughter in March in the stabbing death of his mother, Dawne McCray in Yonkers. A 29-year-old man pleaded guilty to the stabbing death of his mother in Yonkers, according to Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino. Andre Coverdale pleaded guilty on Thursday, March 15 to first-degree manslaughter, a Class B felony, in the stabbing death of Dawne McCray of Yonkers.
