Updated story: Police Identify Two Killed In Westchester Crash A double-fatal crash has shut down a stretch of a busy roadway in the region. Westchester County Police reported just before 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 26 that the northbound Saw Mill River Parkway and a portion of the southbound side are closed in Yonkers near McLean Avenue following the crash that killed two people. "Due to the ongoing accident investigation, the northbound lanes are entirely closed and a partial closure is in effect southbound," the department said in a statement. Motorists in the Hudson Valley can expect delays as work ramps back up on the Saw Mill River Parkway flood mitigation project. Westchester County Department Of Public Safety Cracks Down On 'Obnoxious Driving'
Westchester County Police have been cracking down on "obnoxious driving" across the area. Authorities Ask For Help Identifying Man Found Dead In Wooden Chest In Westchester
Authorities in Westchester County are asking the public for help identifying a man whose body was found in a wooden chest on the side of the Saw Mill River Parkway more than four decades ago. The man's body was discovered in Hastings-on-Hudson at 10:15 a.m. on April 23, 1978, by a driver traveling north on the parkway, according to the Westchester County District Attorney's Office. The driver pulled over after seeing a cedar chest on the side of the road and found that the chest was nailed shut. He opened the chest with a tire iron and found the man's body inside. Expect Delays: Traffic Stoppages Scheduled On Saw Mill River Parkway
Motorists should be prepared for traffic stoppages later this week on the Saw Mill River Parkway. Between 11 a.m. and noon on Friday, July 23, 15-minute traffic stoppages are expected along the northbound and southbound parkway between Exit 12 in Hastings-on-Hudson and Exit 17 in Dobbs Ferry, the New York State Department of Transportation said. A four-car crash on the Saw Mill River Parkway resulted in three people suffering injuries. A Westchester woman has admitted to her role in a fatal crash on the Saw Mill River Parkway in Hastings-on-Hudson last summer and will now face time behind bars. Yonkers resident Kristen Lynn pleaded guilty on Tuesday, Dec. 8 following the death of a 28-year-old woman who was killed on the Parkway in July last year.
