Rape Suspect Caught After Detectives Pose As Young Girl In Westchester: Police

A 21-year-old man faces a rape charge following an undercover sting operation in Westchester involving detectives posing as a teenage girl he had been trying to engage in sexual activity with, police said.

Alejandro Choflet of New Rochelle was arrested following the operation, which the New Rochelle Police Department conducted, Captain J. Collins Coyne announced on Monday, April 7.

According to the department, on Saturday, April 5, the department received a report from a 15-year-old girl who reported that she had been involved in an intimate relationship with Choflet. 

The department then called detectives who soon initiated contact with Choflet by posing as the girl. In these conversations, Choflet said he wanted to visit the girl's residence to engage in sexual activity, police said.

Using this information, detectives then came up with a sting operation to apprehend Choflet. To do this, they positioned themselves at the home and set up surveillance as Choflet approached. When he arrived, he was taken into custody. 

Choflet was charged with: 

  • Third-degree rape;
  • Attempted third-degree rape.
