Vehicle Booting In Mount Kisco Is A Scam, Police Say

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. - Local police are warning residents of a recent “vehicle booting scam” in Mount Kisco that involves the use of immobilization devices on vehicles.

On Monday, the Mount Kisco Police Department issued an advisory to the community, cautioning that several residents have recently been victimized by suspects claiming to be able to remove the illegal boots from their vehicle.

If a vehicle immobilization is placed anywhere on a vehicle in Mount Kisco, the motorist has been advised to go to a safe location and to call Westchester County Police immediately.

“Please obtain descriptions of the vehicles or persons involved, if it can be done safely, but do not attempt to engage the person or persons. The Westchester County Police will dispatch an officer to investigate whether or not the boot was legally placed,” the advisory warns.
