A Tuckahoe police officer on patrol at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8 spotted a suspect going through a car parked on Lake Avenue. When the officer stopped to intervene, the suspect took off running toward the Garrett Street park.

A Westchester County Police K9 was called in to assist, tracking the suspect to the Bronxville Metro-North station when he lost the scent. Investigators noted that during the chase, the suspect dropped a bag full of items that he had stolen from cars in the area.

“As always, we remind all residents to please make sure your vehicles are secure and locked before you head to sleep at night,” the department said in a statement. “Don’t be the next victim. Keep your vehicles locked up and make it a habit to check that they are locked up every night.”
