MOUNT KISCO, N.Y.Smoke testing on sewers will begin on Wednesday in Mt. Kisco and last approximately two weeks.
During this time, National Water Main Cleaning Company will be investigating the amount of storm water that finds its way into Mt. Kiscos sewer system. They will also be looking for defects in the pipes. To conduct these tests, manhole covers will be opened and a specially manufactured smoke will be forced through the sewer line.
According to an informational flier released by the National Water Main Cleaning Company, smoke may enter a house or business during testing. If so, residents should open a window and tell a crew member working in the area. Because of the nature of the smoke it will not leave stains or harm animals.
