MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. Mount Kisco welcomed two new officers to its police force on Tuesday, swearing in officers John Campo and Jose Centeno amongst family, friends, and administration in Village Hall.
Many future brethren were around the room upstairs in Village Hall surrounding the two officers while they got sworn in. Once both took the oath with family by their side, they expressed their excitement to joining the staff in Mount Kisco.
Im feeling a lot of things at the moment: emotion, joy, and pride. It feels great, said Centeno. Im looking forward to getting out in the community, to meet everyone, and to work for this wonderful town.
Centeno and Campo both transferred from the Mount Vernon Police Department, where each served two years after graduating from the Westchester County Police Academy. Campo, who was awarded the Rookie of the Year for the Mount Vernon Police in 2011, was very excited to come aboard.
Im experiencing a lot of pride, and Im happy to be here and serve this village, he said. I love it here. Its really nice to be up here and serve this great place.
Mount Kisco Village Trustee Anthony Markus was one of the onlookers, mentioning during his board report that he remembered the two officers during the interview process, and has high hopes for their talents.
When we interviewed them, they both made clear the pride they take in their job. Im looking forward to them implementing that pride as members of the Mount Kisco Police Department, said Markus. Protecting our citizens, overseeing quality of life, and more; I know theyre up for the task, and I know theyre looking forward to accomplishing it.
