Mount Kisco Chef Competes On Food Network's ‘Chopped’

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. – As his two-year anniversary of working for Village Social Kitchen + Bar in Mount Kisco approaches, Chef Mogan Anthony will celebrate in style by competing on the hit Food Network television show “Chopped.”

His episode, “Mix and Mache” is set to air Thursday night at 9:00 p.m.

Anthony said you’ll have to forgive him if he comes off as quiet and reserved on television. But then again, who could blame him? Just seven years ago, he was still working in the “front of the house” of a Four Seasons hotel—in Singapore.

Born and raised in Malaysia, Anthony’s culinary background is quite fascinating and has produced a resume that caught Food Network’s eye.

The chef's quick ascent comes as no surprise to those that have experienced his cooking.

“Having Mogan on board has lent itself to strong client satisfaction, excitement, loyalty and of course amazing food,” said Joe Bueti, owner and proprietor of Village Social.

Anthony’s smorgasbord culinary background could serve him well in Chopped, as the show’s premise puts four chefs against each other with a mystery basket of ingredients and challenges them to turn them into a dish that is judged on their creativity, presentation, and taste— all in 20 minutes.

“The mystery basket was definitely my favorite part of the whole experience,” said Anthony. “I can’t give away too much of the episode, but I will say that the show is absolutely 100 percent authentic. Everything they show on TV happens in real time and it is not cut up or edited in any way that would mislead viewers.”
