A Dog Day Afternoon at Mt. Kisco Library

MOUNT KISCO, NY -- Heavy periods of rain and lightening couldn't stop the Mount Kisco Public Library from holding its weekly Read to Rover time.

Each Thursday at 4:30 p.m., members of the K9 Kids 4H Club bring their dogs into the library and allow the children of Mount Kisco to come in, meet the dogs and read the dogs a story.

“All the dogs we bring are certified therapy dogs,” said Patricia Murphy of the K9 Kids 4H Club. “The members of the club love bringing their dogs into the library and letting others read to them.”

“Our dogs are allowed in to the library because they are certified and trained therapy dogs,” said Murphy. “We always carry their certification cards with us.”

The K9 Kids 4H Club is open to anyone ages eight to 19. “Our club is great for anyone who's interested in science or animals,” said Murphy. In November, the club will travel to Massachusetts for a Kennel Club Competition.

“Our members have been going to competitions for at least 10 years and we always place high,” said Murphy.
