MOUNT KISCO, N.YAmong news of Library Director Susan Riley leaving to go to Mamaroneck, the Mount Kisco Library Board of Trustees was sworn in at Village Hall Tuesday night, with Riley alongside for a final farewell.
President of the Library Board of Trustees Christienne Genaro held the Bible for Dennis Gochuico, Jacqueline Vedder, and Martha Glantz, who were sworn into the Library Board of Trustees by Mayor J. Michael Cindrich.
President Genaro, who has been on the board for a year-and-a-half, is excited to see the honorees and what they can do in the times ahead. Its exciting. We have a very strong board, and we have many challenges ahead. Not only with the economy, but including the transition to e-books as well, Genaro said. We have to figure out how to best serve the community during that transition.
One of the aspects of running a library includes making sure the day-to-day maintenance is taken care of, which was one of the hallmarks of Rileys leadership over the last decade.
I think one doesnt have to worry about the operating of the library. We really have the liberty to worry about what are the challenges in the future, Genaro said. Knowing the library runs very well is a great relief.
Rileys tenure will be well remembered, and replacing her will not be an easy task. But it will be a task that will be high on the boards list in this new year.
Im looking forward to my new position, but Im going to miss Mount Kisco terribly and the board as well, Riley said. But Im leaving the facility and institution in good hands with interim director Mary Ayers, and the board will be searching for a new director. Im sure they will make a wonderful choice.
