MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. – Dr. Stacie Calian knew even as a teenager that she wanted to pursue a career in dentistry. Now, with more than 20 years of experience and an office in Mount Kisco, she has a reputation as a leader in improving smiles on beautiful faces throughout Westchester County.
“Even when I was a young girl, I thought it was fascinating,’’ said Calian, the owner of Smile Design Dental Spa. “I asked a lot of questions, I was just very curious. I think I was in my teens when I decided to do it.”
Many teenagers consider a lot of different career paths, but Calian found her niche early. “Everybody went in different directions, but I was not distracted by what other people thought,’’ she said. “It has been great for me. I’m my own boss, and I can work as much or as little as I want.”
In the past decade, Dr. Calian has focused on improving smiles. The Smile Design Dental Spa Smile Makeover, as it is coined on her website, is a “scalpel-free face lift.” The procedure can be done in one day, is pain free and patients leave the office without discomfort. There are no needles or surgery, and the process decreases the appearance of facial lines using safe, reliable methods.
“It makes me feel great when I create nice smiles,’’ said Dr. Calian, who attended the Georgetown University School of Dentistry and Montefiore Medical Center. Her clinical experience and work as the Dental Director of one of the largest insurance companies in New York also exposed her to some of the most advanced technologies in the industry.
Smile Design's services include porcelain veneers, dental implants, whitening, Invisalign and lumineers.
Calian was nominated Woman of the Year by Cambridge Who's Who and has achieved many local awards for her community service. She has also been recognized by Westchester Magazine as one of the top dentists in the county.
“I'm happy seeing something that people can really enjoy,’’ she said. “It’s not quite the same as doing a filling. You can do a filling and nobody would even know what you did. This is something you can see.”
