MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -For Karen and Jay Schecter, doing good is something that comes naturally.

The two, co-founders of Mount Kisco's The Aesthetic Sense: Goods for the Soul, a Mount Kisco gallery and eCommerce site featuring Judaica and other goods that appeal to the spirit and the spiritual, has planned its grand opening on Wednesday, Sept. 9 around two youth-oriented charities.

The two Mount Kisco residents will donate a percentage of profits to The Boys and Girls Club of Northern Westchester and Birthday Angels, located in Israel.

“Giving back is a core value of our brand,” explained Karen. “Goods for the Soul are not simply products that reflect spirituality, but products that are produced, sourced and sold in an ethical and fair manner.

"The product’s journey, from artisan’s gallery to the hands of the recipient, is one that embraces fairness and empowerment. For us, that is the true essence of spirituality.”

The two although 6,000 miles apart, were chosen for their dedication to helping children.

“There is never a better place to begin doing good than by helping kids,” added Jay.

The Schecters specifically chose a local organization, the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester, and one in Israel, Birthday Angels, in recognition of their responsibility to both the local and the global communities in which they live.

For those who aren't familiar with Birthday Angels, it provides birthday parties for children who can't celebrate their birthday because of financial hardship.

The Boys and Girls Club, on the other hand, serves members from diverse racial, ethnic, religious and economic backgrounds.

The grand opening is Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 5:30 p.m. at 222 East Main St., (914) 864-1600,
