An unknown number of residents were displaced in Westchester when a three-alarm fire broke out in a four-story apartment building on a busy Yonkers road.

Five firefighters and one resident suffered minor injuries on Monday afternoon, as firefighters were called to a McLean Avenue building shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 14, Yonkers Deputy Fire Chief Daniel Flynn.

Upon arrival, at the apartment building, firefighters were met by a “large volume of fire on the second floor,” Flynn said. In total, 65 firefighters from Yonkers, Greenville and New Rochelle responded to the scene. The fire was declared under control at 4:38 p.m. on Monday afternoon.

Flynn said it is currently unclear how many residents have been displaced, but six apartments have been left uninhabitable and those residents will require relocation. The Yonkers Office of Emergency Management is currently assisting the displaced residents to find temporary housing.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Check Daily Voice for updates.
