MOUNT VERNON, N.Y.-- A chemical leak has prompted authorities to evacuate the Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services on Friday, according to lohud.com.
The leak originated from a rooftop air conditioning unit. A custodian noticed the leak on the 10th floor, the top floor, in the morning before workers arrived. He alerted authorities, prompting a response from firefighters and the county’s Department of Health, lohud reported.
Workers were told to stay home.
Lohud is reporting that the county has signed a $20,000 emergency contract to clean up the chemical spill.
