Long Island Woman Accused Of Driving Drunk Crashes Into Police Cruiser

Two police officers were injured when a Long Island woman accused of driving drunk crashed into their unmarked cruiser overnight.

It happened around 9:50 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4 in Huntington Station.

The woman, Katerina Hirasekova, 42, of Huntington, was driving a 2019 Volkswagen SUV northbound on Maplewood Road when she crashed her vehicle into the rear of an unmarked police car that was stopped at a red light, according to Suffolk County Police. 

The Volkswagen then veered off the roadway, struck a utility pole, and crashed into the gas main at a residential home. 

Two uniformed officers in the police vehicle were transported to Huntington Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Hirasekova was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. She was held overnight at the Fourth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Thursday, Dec. 5.
