Saul Vinokur, 92, Mount Vernon Business Owner

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – Saul Vinokur, a former Mount Vernon business owner, died Feb. 11 in Waterbury, Conn. He was 92.

He was born March 1, 1920, in Mount Vernon. He was a partner and owner of B&S Specialties Plumbing & Heating for 48 years along with his brother, Benjamin.

He was also a professional musician, playing saxophone, clarinet, and flute for more than 70 years. He served in the U.S. Army Band during World War II.

He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Beatrice. He is survived by three children, Dr. Bruce (Marilyn) Vinokur, Gail (Robert) Burke and Dr. Lisa (Ira) Tedoff; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a brother, Benjamin and two sisters, Elizabeth Gamzon and Sophie Vinokur.

A private graveside burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Hastings-on-Hudson. Hebrew Funeral Association in West Hartford is handling arrangements.
