Carlton Brown, 31, was charged with one count of first-degree manslaughter after calling 911, claiming the child, Kali Mack, fell off the bed on Aug. 31, 2014, the district attorney said.
Mack was taken to Montifiore Mount Vernon Hospital before being transferred to The Children’s Hospital at Montifiore in the Bronx on Sept. 1, 2014. She was pronounced dead on Sept. 3, the district attorney said.
An autopsy performed by the New York City Medical Examiner’s Office revealed the cause of death to be homicide via abusive head trauma, the district attorney said.
Brown was arrested on Friday, July 10. He faces a maximum of 25 years if convicted, the district attorney said.
