The suspect’s failed escape attempt happened around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, when Westchester County Police Narcotics Unit detectives and Mount Vernon Police officers arrived at his Pearsall Drive residence to execute a search warrant, Westchester County Police announced on Saturday, March 1.

According to police, as officers knocked on the door, the suspect climbed out a window—only to be immediately apprehended by officers stationed in the back. After a struggle, police recovered a loaded handgun from his possession, the department said.

A search of the home uncovered quantities of heroin and cocaine, illegal handgun magazines, and components that could be assembled into “ghost guns.” Authorities also determined that the gun had been stolen during a burglary in New York City, according to police.

The suspect, whose name has not been released, faces multiple felony charges, including second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and resisting arrest.

Following his arraignment in Mount Vernon City Court, the suspect was remanded to Westchester County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail.
