Mighty Mouse is making a grand return back to New Rochelle for the 54th annual Thanksgiving Day Parade, where he will float past the historic “K” building that housed Terrytoons Studio, where he was created.

For more than four decades, beginning in 1930, Terrytoons called the “K” building in downtown New Rochelle home. Other famed cartoon characters to come from the studio include Heckle and Jeckle, Dinky Duck, Deputy Dog and the Mighty Heroes.

The Thanksgiving Day parade will be a busy one with the festivities highlighted by massive balloons floating through the streets of New Rochelle in the same vein as the annual parade in New York City. For the first time in many years, the parade will also feature marchers from all New Rochelle schools and the city's three colleges.

Other balloons scheduled to join the hometown hero at the parade include a snowman, Mr. Potato Head and Thomas the Tank Engine. The parade kicks off at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18.

It’s a great alternative for people with young children to come see the balloons in a much less crowded, more convenient environment, without the cost or hassle of trekking into New York City,” Andrew Feigenbaum of MassMutual said.

“Each year their work on the parade is exceptional and this year we want everyone to know how much they are appreciated today and always,” New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jennifer Lanser added. “So this year holding the 38 foot Mighty Mouse balloon you will see some true heroes of our city.”
