Bravehearts invites youths 14-18 years old who have had experience with foster care, residential treatment, substance abuse, homelessness, mental health issues or juvenile justice to connect with peers, have fun and use their voices and experience to change the way things work in Westchester County.
The Bravehearts work with the Westchester County Department of Social Services and a cross-system steering committee in Westchester Building Futures, a federally funded planning grant aimed at redesigning the current service system to keep youth who are in or have returned from foster care from becoming homeless.
Group members are determined to rise above their situations and Motivate Others through Voices of Experience, or MOVE.
