MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – Mount Vernon residents had the chance to get their hands on some farm fresh fruits and vegetables Thursday as the City Farmers market returned to City Hall.
The Farmers Market was first introduced to City Hall Plaza in 2006, and it has since evolved into a weekly destination for all Mount Vernon residents during the summer. It will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekly on Thursdays until Oct. 17.
Besides the typical fare of seasonal goods, the market will offer baked and cooked food, homemade soaps and crafts. Organizations dedicated to providing information on healthier living will have booths set up each week.
“With more local establishments wanting to become involved, it became necessary for us to think about expanding beyond the focus of the past few years,” Rene Davis, the market coordinator this year said.
