There will be a lane closure on a stretch of Route 1 for several hours as contractors perform highway work activities in the area.
The New York State Department of Transportation issued an alert cautioning that there will be lane closures in both directions in Port Chester between Read Street and Putnam Avenue between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 16.
During the scope of the project, motorists in the area can expect delays and have been advised to seek alternate routes, when possible.
The NYSDOT noted, “drivers are asked to use caution when traveling through the work zone area and pay particular attention to all traffic control devices, including signs and flaggers.
“Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.”
