Coach Joe Rush’s 12-and-Under squad defeated Dobbs Ferry 8-2 last Saturday on the strength of timely hitting by Michael Rizzuto, who missed the first three games due to injury, and Joey Marino.
On Tuesday, the Mariners continued their hot hitting in a hard-fought 7-5 win over the Kensico. Nick Giuliano, who leads the team in triples, led the offense along with Jordan Rush, who found his stroke and pounded out a multi-hit game.
The Mariners capped the week with an 8-2 win over the Orioles as Rush continued with his winning formula of getting a first-inning lead by playing small ball. Mikey Ferrara reached first, stole second, and lefty-swinging Brody McGuinn drove in the first run.
Eric Reyes, Evan Parker, Joe Pecora, and Brandon Ferrante continue their good hitting as the Mariners have outscored opponents 51 to 18 in six wins.
The Mariners next play the second-place Reds Tuesday at Pat Henry Field in Valhalla.
