The concert, which took place on the afternoon of Saturday, Oct. 11, at North Salem High School, was sponsored by Syracuse University. It was co-directed by Bradley Ethington, director of bands at Syracuse University, and Steve Austin, the North Salem High School band director.

The young musicians were selected based on the scores from their New York State School Music Association evaluations, as well as their outstanding work in the Valhalla band program. They are taught by Valhalla Middle/High School teachers Scott Rimm-Hewitt and Anthony Maceli.
