Pleasantville, Westlake High School Students Win Theater Awards

MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. -- Students at Pleasantville High School and Westlake High School took home several awards at the 2013 Metropolitan High School Theater Awards.

Westlake High School senior Emily Banks won the award for Outstanding Actress in a Supporting Role for her portrayal of Mrs. Potts.

The schools were nominated for their productions of "Peter Pan" and "Beauty and the Beast."

Westlake High School's production of "Beauty and the Beast" earned 14 total nominations. Pleasantville High School's production of "Peter Pan" earned 13 total nominations.

In the acting categories, Westlake High School senior Emily Banks won the award for Outstanding Actress in a Supporting Role for her portrayal of Mrs. Potts.

Pleasantville High School students Emily Hamilton, portraying Peter Pan, and Emmalisa Stangarone, portraying Wendy Darling, took home the Outstanding Duet award for their rendition of "Distant Melody."

Pleasantville Elementary School student Griffin Senyek, portraying Michael Darling, took home the Outstanding Child Actor award.

Devon Allen, a professional working on the Pleasantville production, took home a production award for Outstanding Lighting Design for the "Peter Pan" show.

The High School Theater Awards honor theater students in Rockland and Westchester Counties in New York, as  well as Bergen County in New Jersey.
