Raymond Baffuto, of Church St. in New Rochelle, was found around 5 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, when New York City Police responded to a 911 call regarding a crash involving a pedestrian struck, said the NYPD.

Arriving officers found Baffuto unconscious and unresponsive, lying along the Bruckner Boulevard Service Road, the NYPD spokesman said.

EMS responded to the location and pronounced him dead at the scene.

A further investigation by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad determined that Baffuto had exited his vehicle, which was parked along the side of the road.

He then attempted to cross the service road from east to west at the location when he was struck by a vehicle, possibly a dump truck with a blue container, traveling northbound on Bruckner Boulevard, which fled the location, they said.

There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.
