On Saturday, Feb. 18 around 2 p.m., the Yonkers Police Department received a report that an elderly man suffering from dementia had left a car on Strathmore Road and had disappeared after walking away from family members.

After learning that he had last been seen walking towards the Bronx River Parkway and receiving a description of him and the clothes he was wearing, Yonkers PD then alerted the Westchester County Police Department of the case.

Soon, the department sent officers to search the area to find him. While searching along Route 22 in Eastchester, the officers then found a man walking in a shopping plaza who fit the description, and realized that they had found the man.

Yonkers PD was then notified of this and was able to return the man to his worried family members.

In a social media post, Westchester County PD said they were glad to report that the search ended up having a "happy ending."
