A midday traffic stop on I-95 in Westchester led to the arrest of a man who was in possession of more than four pounds of marijuana, police said.
New York State Police troopers stopped a driver on I-95 in Mamaroneck at approximately 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15, when he committed a vehicle and traffic violation.
During the stop, police said that the driver, Elvis McPhill Jr., 34, of Valley Stream on Long Island gave troopers probable cause to search he and his vehicle. During that subsequent search, McPhill was found to be in possession of more than four pounds of marijuana and he was arrested.
McPhill, 34, was taken into custody and charged with criminal possession of marijuana, a felony and cited for unlawful possession of marijuana and several vehicle and traffic violations.
Following his arraignment in the Town of Pelham Court, McPhill was remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,500 bond. No return court date has been announced.
