Mahopac Woman Charged With DWAI Attempts To Flee From Officers In Yorktown, Police Say

A an area woman has been charged with DWAI after police say she tried to flee from officers in Northern Westchester.

Yorktown Police say they initiated a traffic stop on Route 6 after observing a speeding driver who was failing to maintain their lane on Wednesday, Sept. 11 around 10 p.m.

Further investigation revealed that the driver, identified as Amanda Darrigo, 33, of Mahopac, was driving while her ability was impaired, police say.

Darrigo also resisted arrest by attempting to run into traffic and failing to comply with officers’ orders, police say.

Darrigo was eventually placed under arrested and charged with the following driving while ability impaired, speeding and failure to maintain lane, all traffic violations. She was also charged with resisting arrest, a Class A misdemeanor.

Darrigo was released on her own recognizance to a responsible third party and is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Tuesday, Sept. 24.
