A woman who was high on drugs assaulted a state trooper and damaged his police vehicle during an arrest, New York State Police said.

Troopers in Ulster County first made contact with the woman at around 9:45 p.m. Thursday, June 9, after witnessing her violate traffic laws on Washington Avenue in the town of Ulster, police said.

While speaking with her, the trooper determined that she was under the influence of drugs and attempted to arrest her.

But she became combative and resisted the officer’s efforts, police said.

At one point, she reportedly bit the trooper on the arm, causing a laceration.

Once she was finally under arrest and placed inside the police vehicle, she kicked the front windshield, fracturing it, according to police.

She also allegedly damaged the front passenger door.

After searching the woman, the trooper found cocaine on her and inside her vehicle, police said.

Troopers identified the suspect as Niccole Lignowski, age 43, of Marbletown.

She's facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, including assault, obstruction of governmental administration, and resisting arrest.

A judge later released Lignowski on an appearance ticket.
