Nicholas McAteer, 46, from Glenwood Lake pled guilty Wednesday in connection with the 2007 and 2011 rapes of two teenage girls.
At the time of his plea, McAteer admitted to the forcible rape of the two girls. McAteer raped the first girl in 2007 when the girl was 18-years old, the DA's Office said.
The second girl was 15 when McAteer raped her in 2011. The charges that McAteer pled guilty to satisfied an 82-count indictment, involving a series of sexual offenses that he committed against both girls over a number of years, the DA's Office said.
Hoovler thanked the Greenwood Lake Police Department for its efforts in the investigation and prosecution of the case.
“Sex offenses destroy people’s lives,” said Hoovler, “And that is especially true when the victims are young people. My office has made it a priority to deal seriously with sex offenses, including those involving children. Through the plea that we announce today, the defendant’s victims will receive some measure of justice and, I hope, closure, for the series of acts that the defendant committed against them.”
Under the terms of his plea agreement, McAteer faces up to 18 years in prison when he is sentenced on June 13.
