The program teaches people with disabilities the skills they need to become employable, helps them find and secure a job, and provides on-the-job training and follow-up to make sure they are successful.

“Since 2009, the Dyson Foundation has supported our diverse programs in Putnam County, allowing us to continue to provide our job placement and training services free of charge to students and adults with disabilities,” said Tina Cornish-Lauria, CAREERS executive director. “We take pride in our one-to-one relationship with our clients, which ensures they are getting the training and support they need to be active participants in the community.”

The Dyson Foundation has a major funding program in the Mid-Hudson Valley that aims to improve and enhance the quality of life in the region for all of its residents, especially those most vulnerable or economically disadvantaged.

The foundation has provided more than $335 million in grants since its inception in 1957. Since 1987, CAREERS has made over 2,500 job placements and provided support services to well over 6,000 people with disabilities in Westchester and Putnam counties. In 2015, the program placed over 117 people in new jobs and 27 in internships.
