A Northern Westchester man is facing charges alleging that he raped a woman last year.
New Castle resident Rami Ghrewati, 54, was arraigned in Westchester County Court last week after being indicted by a grand jury on charges that include rape, according to the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office.
Ghrewati stands accused of forcibly raping a woman in New Castle on either Nov. 4 or Nov. 5, the indictment alleges. He was arrested on Nov. 9 by Westchester County Police officers. No other information was immediately available.
The charges against Ghrewati include first and third-degree rape, first and third-degree criminal sexual act and two counts of sexual abuse, all felonies. He was also charged with unlawful imprisonment, a misdemeanor.
Following his arraignment, Ghrewati was released on $15,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on June 25 to respond to the charges.
