Fire Breaks Out At House In Westchester

Smoke could be seen billowing in the air for blocks as fire crews battled a blaze that broke out during the day on Christmas Eve.

The fire started just before noon in Mount Vernon on Monday, Dec. 24 as smoke and flames could be seen billowing through the roof of a Bruce Avenue home, which has reportedly been abandoned for years. The fire was still raging after more than an hour as crews attempted to knock down the flames. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries have been reported.
