MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- Anna Eardley brought her sons Aiden and Dylan-Arouh to Harbor Island Park Thursday to take advantage of the near-60 degree weather on a sunny, yet windy, afternoon in Mamaroneck.
Aiden, 4, and Dylan-Arouh, 3, spun round-and-round on the spinning wheel with a half-dozen other jubilant children, many of whom were off from school this week. The Mamaroneck brothers haven't started school yet, but their mother was happy to get them out of the house.
"We're having fun playing at the park," said Anna Eardley, who planned to take her kids to Walter's Hot Dog Stand. "It's nice and sunny and we just hope the nice weather keeps up."
Unfortunately, rain is on the weekend forecast. Thursday night will hit a low around 41 degrees with rain forecast to hit Friday between 2 a.m. and 3 p.m. The National Weather Service's experts said Friday's high temperature should be near 53 and the low around 33 degrees with a 30 percent chance of showers.
Temperatures are expected to dip over the weekend, with Saturday's high near 46 and a low around 28 degrees. Sunday's high should be near 43 with a low around 30 degrees.
At least for Thursday, parents including Eardley are excited to be outside with their children. Annie Mordosky got a late start on the day, but also brought her kids to Harbor Island Park for the afternoon.
"I'm totally excited that it's nice out and that we could get out for some fresh air," Mordosky, a Mamaroneck resident, said.
