The fire occurred at around 7:30 a.m. between Exits 18A (Mamaroneck – Fenimore Ave) and 18B (White Plains – Mamaroneck Ave), prompting a travel advisory just as the morning commute was reaching its peak, according to the NYS Thruway Authority.

All lanes were eventually reopened by 8:30 a.m., and congestion began to clear shortly afterward, officials said. It’s unclear whether anyone was injured in the incident or how the fire began.
