Mamaroneck Wins 4th Straight, Heads to Binghamton

YONKERS, N.Y. – Mamaroneck extended its winning streak to four games with a 55-50 overtime win at Gorton on Friday.

Matt Mezansky led the Tigers with 14 points and had five steals, while Alex Lanni recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

A gas leak forced an evacuation of Mamaroneck High School earlier in the day, and head coach Tyrone Carver Jr. said the day was a bit chaotic and strange for his team.

“We weren’t sure if we were going to be able to get our stuff to actually travel,” Carver said.

Carver said the Tigers should not be affected by the leak, as they now travel to Binghamton to face last year’s Section 4 champions, Union-Endicott High School, which lost to Mount Vernon in the Class AA state regional final last year.

The two teams will face off Saturday night at 7 p.m.
