New Rankings: These Area School Districts Among Best In Upstate

The Hudson Valley is home to some of upstate New York’s finest school districts, according to a newly released report.

Citing data from niche.com that includes standardized test scores, teacher quality, spending, and other factors, NewYorkUpstate.com compiled the 50 highest scoring school districts across upstate.

The study only contains data from districts in upstate New York, which was deemed any municipality north of Westchester and Rockland counties.

Hudson Valley districts to make the list: 

Spackenkill Union Free School District - Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County (ninth overall):

  • Overall grade: A+
  • Students: 1,426
  • Student/teacher ratio: 10:1
  • Spending per student: $28,912
  • Percent proficient in math: 63%
  • Percent proficient in reading: 61%
  • Percent graduation rate: 95%
  • Average SAT/ACT: 1270/30

Monroe-Woodbury Central School District - Central Valley, Orange County (20th):
