MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- The Mamaroneck Town Board has postponed its public hearing on legislation that would limit the use of certain types of plastic bags.
The public hearing was scheduled for the Town Council's meeting Wednesday at 8 p.m. It was postponed to give the board more time to review additional information regarding the proposed legislation.
The Town Council announced it will set a new public hearing date in the near future.
Larchmont's legislation excludes many types of bags from the ban, which is why the law is called the 'Reusable Bag Initiative' versus a ban on plastic bags, Larchmont Mayor Anne McAndrews said.
The terms are similar to those of the ordinance passed by the Village of Mamaroneck, McAndrews said.
The agenda for the Town Council's meeting Wednesday is online.
