LARCHMONT, N.Y. - John G. Hughes, a longtime Larchmont resident, died Thursday, July 18. He was 81.
Hughes was born March 2, 1932, in Hartford, Conn. He graduated from the College of Holy Cross in 1954 and completed an MBA at New York University. He had a long career in marketing and advertising in New York City at firms including Colgate - Palmolive, BBDO, Booz Allen Hamilton, and his startup, Wesco Promotions. He was an adjunct professor at various colleges and universities, among them Fordham University and Iona College.
Hughes is survived by children, Joanne Pierleoni of New Fairfield, Conn., (Gregg), John G. Hughes Jr. of Harrison, David V. Hughes (Dixie) of Sweden and Laurie V. Hughes (Scott Voelz), of Los Angeles; nine grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Rita Val; and his second wife, Veronica Ryan Coleman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, July 22 at St. Augustine’s Church in Larchmont.
