Former Diva Ashley Massaro, the winner of the WWE’s 2005 Raw Diva Search, was transported from her Smithtown home to a local hospital, officials confirmed. She was pronounced dead just months after she was training to return to the ring.

"Gonna be bumping around the ring starting next week ... super pumped n ready to see what I got left in these ole boots of mine!" Massaro tweeted earlier this year. “Those guy are the best super safe and make me feel so comfortable-if u live in tri-state area n want to train-THIS IS WHERE ITS AT!”

The WWE confirmed Massaro’s death in a tweet.

"We are saddened to learn of the tragic death of former WWE Superstar Ashley Massaro," WWE said in a statement. "WWE offers its condolences to Ashley's family and friends.”

There was an outpouring of support from former WWE superstars following the announcement of Massaro’s death.

“This is just awful news - Ashley Massaro is gone. She was only 39. She lived in the same town as me...I loved seeing her around. She was always so nice...and now she’s gone,” fellow Long Islander Mich Foley tweeted. #RIPAshleyMassaro"

“I have no words. Ashley was my tag partner at Wrestlemania. My sometimes road wife,” Maria Kanellis posted. “We did countless photo shoots and press days together. It seems like yesterday Ashley was a major part of my life and then our worlds changed and now she is gone. Im heartbroken for her family.“

“I can’t even begin to explain how devastated I am to hear about @ashleymassaro11 - legit one of the sweetest people I’ve ever known,” Torrie Wilson said. “When we fall into a dark place it can seem like it will never change but if you are there PLEASE keep hope & reach out for help.”
