Village Paint Honored for 50 Years in Mamaroneck

MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- Bobby Goetze's family has left its mark on Mamaroneck and Larchmont over the course of six generations through volunteerism and the family business Village Paint Supply. Bobby and his brother Danny, fourth generation village residents, are the proprietors of Village Paint Supply, which their father founded on June 16, 1961. All four Goetze boys have worked in the store, which opened a second location on Boston Post Road in Larchmont on Nov. 10, 1966. They now also have two stores in Orange County - one of their nephews still works in the New Windsor store. On behalf of his family, Bobby appeared at the Village Board meeting Monday night, where Mayor Norman Rosenblum declared Nov. 10 Village Paint Supply, Bobby and Danny Goetze Day in the Village of Mamaroneck. "I hope families just stay in the Village of Mamaroneck," said Bobby, whose grandson Luke is in the third grade at Mamaroneck Avenue School. "It's a great place. I've been all over the world. I traveled with the military and I always said, 'can't wait to get home.'" Bobby said Pate Park off of Old White Plains Road was named after his grandfather, who came to Mamaroneck from Italy approximately 100 years ago. His family, he said, has always been involved in the community. His grandfather worked for the village for most of his adult life. Bobby and Danny have continued to that legacy by volunteering for Little League Baseball, softball and CYO basketball over the years.
