MAMARONECK, N.Y. - Peggy Jackson and Mamaroneck Shares will return for a third year of charitable block parties in the summer of 2012.
Jackson, who co-founded the 501(C)3 organization, agreed to reduce the number of bands playing at one time to limit noise on Mamaroneck Avenue, but will maintain the number of nights. This past summer, they went from three to four block parties.
The first night will be June 21, followed by July 19, Aug. 16 and Sept. 21, 2012. All four events will be held on Mamaroneck Avenue, between Boston Post Road and Halstead Avenue. Beginning at 6 p.m. on those days, that portion of Mamaroneck Avenue will be closed to all traffic and transformed into a pedestrian mall. Festivities begin at 7 p.m. and end at 10:30 p.m.
The proceeds from these block parties benefit Mamaroneck charities. This past year, they included Mamaroneck Emergency Medical Services, At Home on the Sound, the Pediatric Cancer Foundation and Keep aBreast.
